ASTRA Open air museum, the homestead from Sebeșu de Jos

The beeswax candle maker's homestead is an ideal place for us to discover all the processes related to beekeeping and slumgum use through practical workshops during which traditional utensils are used. The two occupations are strongly interlinked: beekeepers were left with the slumgum when extracting  honey, which became a valuable resources for the people who processed it for a living, turning it into wax and and then into candles.

The aim of this workshop is to showcase traditional and modern beekeeping methods, how to work with bees, how to use specific utensils, the steps to be taken when extracting honey, how to use the honey bee fogger, but also to present several bee products and beautiful clean wax candles.
