Pastoral events at the ASTRA Museum
The ASTRA Museum organizes new events with a pastoral specificity in the Pastoral Sector of the Open-Air Museum. They will take place on June 22-23 (11.00 - 17.00) and July 5-6, (11.00 - 17.00) within the project "Food and shelter in the mountain world. Patterns of resource use and adaptation to the environment in pastoral civilization" and Stână Fest.
The exhibition circuit in the Pastoral Sector has been upgraded, with numerous interventions - restoration, conservation, grooming, planting – to make the visiting experience more enjoyable. All the interventions carried out, as well as the practical workshops that will take place, focus on interacting with the public, updating information from the field - thus building new bridges to the local communities - using resources wisely, understanding how shepherds adapted to the often-hostile natural environment of the mountain areas.
There will be woodworking workshops - making of objects specific to the pastoral environment, workshops, and practical demonstrations of textile processing, going through the stages of wool preparation - from sheep shearing to yarn processing.
The gastronomic workshops will offer culinary experiences using the specific resources of the sheepfold: butter, balmoș, and cocoloșul cu brânză will be prepared and offered for tasting.
The events are complemented by creative storytelling workshops and guided tours offered by the museographers in the Pastoral Sector of the Open-Air Museum, including the Rășinari homestead, part of the ASTRA VR exhibition circuit.
