Cheese and Honey at ASTRA Museum, event organized in the Animate ASTRA! programme, consisted of two traditional fairs, one dedicated to cheese products, and another to apiculture products. The shepherd’s homestead from Rășinari was animated by local producers of cheese and other dairy products made of sheep, goat, cow and buffalo milk. Interactive workshops for preparing dairy sheep products were also organized here.

 

A practical workshop was organized at the beeswax candle maker’s homestead from Sebeșu de Jos, for creating beehives. An expert curator explained in detail the entire process to the visitors, as well as the benefits of honey and the role of the natural antibiotic found in the beehive - propolis.

 

There was also an artistic programme offered by the two communities from Rășinari and Sebeșu de Jos, who illustrated specific local songs and shouts.
